The Five Basics of the Tayebat System

Published on 2026/05/01

The Tayebat System is built on five staple foods that the late Dr. Diaa Al-Awadhi described as the backbone of daily nutrition: rice, potato, dates, butter, and sugar. These are eaten daily in moderation because, according to the system, they are natural foods the body digests and uses easily.

Why these foods?

The system regards them as pure energy sources free from the processing believed to cause many health problems. Rice and potato provide starch, dates and sugar provide quick energy, and natural butter provides healthy fat.

The golden rule: the five basics are eaten daily, while other allowed foods are eaten according to the frequency set for each item.

A note on application

Moderation is essential; overeating any item, even an allowed one, goes against the spirit of the system, which is built on eating when hungry and stopping before fullness.
